Marsh steers Punjab to 7-wkt win over Pune




MOHALI: Shaun Marsh guided Kings XI Punjab to outplay Pune Warriors by seven wickets with 14 balls remaining in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League here at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium on Thursday.
Chasing an easy target of 116, Punjab completed the victory in 17.4 overs losing only three wickets.
Australian batsman Marsh remained not out on 64, made off 54 balls with seven fours and a six. He added 50 runs for the second wicket with Adam Gilchrist, also from Australia and later 46 runs with Piyush Chawla for the unbeaten 4th wicket partnership.
Earlier, Punjab captain Gilchrist won the toss and put Pune into bat and bowled them out for 115 runs in 19 overs.
Mithun Manhas top scored with 31 while England’s fast-medium bowler Dimitri Mascarenhas captured five wickets for 25 and seamer Harmeet Singh took two for 23.
