IPL: Two matches today

PUNE : Two matches will be played in the Indian Premier League (IPL-2012) on Tuesday, Geo News reported.

Pune Warriors and Rajasthan Royals will clash in the first match, which will start in the afternoon at 3.30 P.M. (Pakistan Time).

In the second match, Deccan Chargers will take on Kings Eleven Punjab. This match will start in the evening at 7.30 P.M. (Pakistan Time)

Kolkata overtake Delhi on IPL points table

DELHI : Kolkata Knight Riders recorded their sixth consecutive win to go on top of the points table defeating Delhi Daredevils by six wickets and also deprive them of the top position in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League.

Chasing 154, Kolkata who had begun the tournament losing two early matches, reached the winning target in 18.4 overs here at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Monday.

Brandon McCullum of New Zealand top scored with 56 with seven boundaries. He began the innings with his captain Gautam Gambhir and provided a solid start of 68 runs and then added 60 runs with Jacques Kallis of South Africa for the second wicket.

Gambhir made 36 and Kallis 30 and they with McCullum paved the way for an easy win over Delhi.

Earlier, Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag won the toss and elected to bat. He (23) and Australian opener David Warner (21) gave a breezy start of 40 in only 3.3 overs and later Sri Lankan Mahela Jayawardene (30) and new Zealander Ross Taylor (16) made 46 rins for the third wicket.

However, the remaining batsmen could not consolidate the total as Delhi were restricted to 153 for nine in 20 overs.

Kallis and West Indies’ off-spinner Sunil Narine claimed two wickets each and Kallis was later adjudged the Man-of-the-Match for his allround performance.

PCB refuses to send seven players to Canada

LAHORE : Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) refused to let seven cricketers play in a Twenty20 match in Toronto slated for May 12.

Skipper Misbah ul Haq, Shahid Afridi, Saeed Ajmal, Muhammad Hafeez, Umar Akmal, Hammad Azam and UmarGul had to play from Asia 11 team.

However, PCB refused to send the players to Canada.

According to the players, they had told the Director International Operations of PCB Intikhab Alam regarding the tour.

Meanwhile, Chief Operating Officer of PCB Subhan Ali said that players had not sought formal permission from the PCB.
