Russell shines in Khulna victory against Dhaka



DHAKA: Allrounder Andre Russell displayed fine performance to help Khulna Royal Bengal defeat Dhaka Gladiators by 19 runs in the first Twenty20 match of second day in the Bangladesh Premier League here at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Friday.

Winning the toss, Khulna batted first and made 175 runs for five wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Captain Shakib Al Hasan top scored with 42, followed by Andre Russell (37 not out) and Dwayne Smith (37).

Allrounder Azhar Mahmood claimed two wickets for 20 for Dhaka Gladiators.

In reply, Dhaka Gladiators batsmen could not resist against paceman Russell and managed 156 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

Russell captured four wickets for 35 runs.
