NBP win first match of Corporate T20 Night Cup



KARACHI: Aug 7: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) held their nerves to clinch a narrow five-run victory over PIA in the opening match of the inaugural Cool & Cool Corporate T20 Night Cup at the Moin Khan Academy (DHA Sports Club) in the early hours of Sunday.NBP, batting first after skipper Kamran Akmal won the toss, were all out for 158 on the final ball of their innings. Left-handed Aqeel Anjum was their mainstay with a 40-ball 51 that included six fours and one six.Kamran contributed 33 off 24 balls with the help of five fours and one six. Together with Aqeel, the Pakistan discarded wicket-keeper added 47 for the fourth wicket.Left-armer Zia-ul-Haq and his new-ball partner Janisar Khan bagged three wickets each.PIA were doing at the start with Sarfraz Ahmed (62 off 42 balls, six fours and two sixes) and skipper Shoaib Malik (35 off 25 balls, three fours and one six) leading the way.But once they went, PIA found themselves struggling in the death overs. Mohammad Talha took 2-34.
