Delhi down Rajasthan to consolidate position in IPL


JAIPUR: Delhi Daredevils easily defeated Rajasthan Royals by six wickets with 28 balls remaining in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League.
The second match on Tuesday was played here at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Delhi Daredevils reached the target with ease in 15.2 overs after restricting Rajasthan Royals to 141-6 in the allotted 20 overs, due to accurate bowling by left-arm spinner Pawan Negi who bagged four wickets for 18 runs.
Captain Virender Sehwag hit another half-century as he scored 73 from 38 balls with twelve fours and a six while Kevin Pietersen of England made 36.
Both batsmen added 96 runs for the second wicket stand after Delhi lost Mahela Jayawardene for no score at the board.
Brad Hogg took two wickets for Rajasthan.
Earlier, captain Rahul Dravid (57) and Ajinkya Rahane (42) provided a solid start of 71 runs but other batsmen could not utilize the opening stand in their team’s favour.from Jaipur.
