IPL: Kolkata beat Chennai by five wickets


CHENNAI: Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Chennai Super Kings by five wickets with two balls remaining in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL-2012) here at the M A Chidambaram Stadium on Monday.
Chasing 140, Kolkata lost five wickets to reach the winning target in 19.4 overs to reach the second place on the points table with 14 points – just one point behind Delhi Daredevils.
Captain Gautam Gambhir top scored with 63 while South Africa’s star allrounder Jacques Kallis made 26 after taking two wickets for 21.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahinder Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first.
However, they were restricted to 139 runs for five wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Their main scorers were Suresh Raina (44) and Dhoni (34 not out).
